Shobhaa De – an icon – a digital portrait

Have been wanting to introduce the series of digital paintings on the city of Mumbai. The works capture beautifully the essence of Mumbai and its ever vibrant lifestyle. Glimpses of the life in the magical city has been brought out beautifully in each one of these works.

However, before starting with the Mumbai series thought I must put up a portrait of an icon, a writer, a socialite, a diva; who I feel represents fully the spirit of the charming city of Mumbai. Need I say more, presenting the glamorous and classy Shobhaa De.

She is one who definitely needs no introduction. How would I introduce her was a thought that I have been playing around with for a few days now. Will the word “writer” suffice to describe this lovely lady with a multi-faceted personality? Living life on her own terms, yes, that’s what I love about this beautiful lady. She has rewritten the rules of life altogether. A successful model, renowned writer, mother, wife, socialite, a style icon; I probably would run short of words trying to describe her. It is her never say die attitude that makes her a cut above the rest, stand out from the crowd.

This digital portrait of Shobhaa De uses a combination of Photoshop and Corel Painter. A beautiful play of light and colors bring alive the vibrant spirit that is so typical of this beautiful lady.

Moving ahead - A digital portrait of my cutie pie

My little cutie pie...time flies really fast (fast is an understatement when it comes to kids, especially girls). The day she was born is still so fresh in my memory...the cute little bundle of joy all wrapped up in a white towel saying "Good Morning! Today is a Fine Day!!And it seems just like yesterday that this little darling came into our lives. It is just that 10 years have gone by in between. The 10 years have added a lot of things in my, rather our life ...let's not get talking about the extra kilos that make me feel guilty looking into the mirror and the lines here and there that threaten to just pop out anytime. Physical details ...do they really matter? It is best to get a little philosophical at times...makes you feel on top of the world. Let's look at the better side of it all:)....the years of love and happiness , the moments of joy, the smile, the achievements, the time spent together; it is actually all that matters in life. Relationships are what make life what it is.

Coming back to where I began, this is one beautiful digital work of Rajesh that has so much love and innocence reflecting in it ....guess in addition to the beautiful strokes and the colors it had lots of dad's love too added in. The charming smile, the innocence, the cutie looks a beautiful work indeed (makes me almost feel bad that my girly days have gone by so soon....).Anyway guess when you have a daughter you can relive them once again and that's a great consolation :)

A pioneering effort that combines fine art photography with digital art, this is a water color technique that has seen the beautiful mingling of Adobe Photoshop and Corel Painter.

What next...what would it be in the next post...a little suspense for now...it is going to be a celebrity portrait this time...have just discovered one from his collection....for more on this just a day's wait.

Digital Arts and beyond - a digital portrait

Hi ,
Welcome to the world of digital art. Unlike my other blogs where I display my works (writings and recipes), this is an admiration blog.

Ok, now I am sure that this has got you thinking. What do I mean by an admiration blog? This is a blog where I would display the artistic creations of a man I admire and love. The man in question here is .....none other than my dear hubby.

Now, its not just love, fresh air and admiration alone, we too have this love-hate relationship like all married couples do (now...now think I should be speaking only for myself and not the rest of the married world). The ups and downs are surely an integral part of a marriage that adds to the fun and excitement of the relationship, the roller coaster ride as I like to call it. But when it comes to his works, it is definitely just one feeling - admiration.

Now I can go on and on about marriages, so let me stop my rambling and come back to the point, the world of digital arts. Digital art started off as something Rajesh discovered he was good at almost accidentally. However, from hobby to passion the destination was one he got to quickly, probably even before he realized (of course my daughter and me did realize for sure and have made sure to log the long hours that he spent in front of the comp - the huge sacrifices we have made to turn him from a budding artist to one we are really proud of:). Balancing work and a hobby can really be tough however, but guess the Type A personality he is makes it a bit easy.

He is definitely not one to leave something half way and that's one quality I really love. His determination and drive, that’s probably what got him to master one software after the other all by himself (of course our encouragement - we would definitely be there to share every moment of the limelight).

What began as just some image editing soon assumed the status of “art”, and beautiful art I must say....can't help admiring most of his creations (you must especially see the portrait of mine that he created).

Digital paintings and portraits have been an important part of our lives in the past few years and has definitely been one that we all (including my little one) are enjoying. Watching him work, the numerous visits to the art galleries and the beautiful art books have all made me too a part of this beautiful world of art. Have been wanting to put together the works for sometime now, at last have done it - made a beginning - what better than a blog to showcase these beautiful creations.

And so, here it is for you, each post is going to have a personal pick of mine from his rather large collection. Would begin with, what I refer to as his best creation.

Thank you for visiting my blog. this sure is going to be an enlightening journey in the world of digital arts. There is a lot going to be happening here...do keep coming back for more on the excitement.
